Sunday of Advent 4

Advent 4 teaches us to love. This Sunday was a treat to be guided through the service by the Sunday School teachers and students. After each part of the story our Sunday School children showed the story using their new felt boards.

Luke 2:1-7-And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.  Joseph went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)  To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, who was great with child. She brought forth her firstborn son whom she named Jesus, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them to stay in the inn.

Luke 2:8-14-An angel appeared to shepherds who were watching their flocks in the fields near Bethlehem. The angel told them the good news of the birth of the Savior and Messiah, Jesus Christ. The shepherds immediately went to find baby Jesus, whom the angels said to them they would find sleeping in the manger.

Matthew 2:1-12-After time, three wise men, saw the brilliant star in the sky that shone over where Jesus was born. The wise men traveled from a distant eastern country to find this new king. During the wise men’s trip, Herod, the king of Judah, met with these wise men. Herod told them to be sure to come back and let him know where the baby king could be found so that he too could also worship him. The wise men continued to Bethlehem and found Jesus in the stable where the star shone. They knelt before him and worshipped the Saviour and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Then they journeyed back home a different route, knowing that King Herod did not intend to worship Jesus but he was planning to kill the baby.
