About

We are a very active community church with weekly activities taking place in and around the church community.

We offer Sunday School for school age children and a Nursery for babies. 2nd and 4th Sundays in the month 11am-12pm children are treated to activities that introduce them to the stories of the Bible.

The creativity and dedication of the Sunday School teachers bring joy to the children as they learn from their lessons. The children often bring their stories to the sanctuary where they sometimes sing and dance for the congregation.

Stay tuned to see what the children are doing this month in Sunday School at Melville United Church.

We are looking for new Sunday School Teachers and Helpers in the nursery. Please contact Pat Brown.

Sunday Nov. 24, a lovely children’s learning time with Dr.Tracy Crick-Butler.
“What does Jesus look like?”

Let us build a house where love is found in water, wine and wheat; a banquet hall on holy ground, where peace and justice meet. Here the love of God, through Jesus, is revealed in time and space; as we share in Christ the feast that frees us; All are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.

Church history books

Our History

Our church was started in the 1830s when Scottish settlers came together with a desire to fulfil their spiritual journey and hear their ancestral Gaelic language again. Two books have been written about the founding of our church and the people that lived in our communities.

History Classes

  • Learned about the beginning of our church
  • Early settlers in Lobo Township
  • How our church started and has grown since its early beginnings

Remembrance Day-Sunday November 9, Ingrid lead our congregation in a memorable Remembrance Day recognition of local persons who fought in WW1 and WW2. Church members and youth from a local Girl Guides group were part of our Honour Guard.

Poplar Hill Christmas Parade is coming on Saturday Nov. 15 at 6:30pm to start the seasonal celebrations. Families line the parade route waiting for lights, music, and candy for the little ones!

Vanneck United Church

Our church partner in the former Ivan Pastoral Charge, Vanneck United Church, closed effective September 1, 2021 and the Vanneck building has been sold. We wish all the best to the former members of Vanneck United Church and thank them for their partnership with us over many years.

Two stained glass windows were removed from Vanneck church and gifted to Melville. They are on display in our sanctuary.
